Since 2006, JTB’s National Conference has served as a vital fundraiser, sustaining our free, life-changing programs for students nationwide. The 2026 National Conference will feature dynamic panel discussions on contemporary legal issues, networking opportunities, and career exploration for students at every stage—from middle school to law school. Students will have the opportunity to visit local courtrooms, engage with judges and attorneys, and participate in interactive workshops designed to equip them with the knowledge and connections necessary for a future in law.

Legal professionals attending the conference will gain valuable insights through CLE - accredited sessions, discussions on advancements in the profession, and networking with leaders in law and corporate counsel. The event will culminate in our gala dinner, where we will present the JTB Trailblazer Awards to distinguished legal professionals, scholarships to students from each of the Houston Law Schools, and Partnership Awards to our exceptional corporate supporters.

Our 2026 National Conference in Houston, Texas will celebrate the legacy of the Honorable Judge Reynaldo Guerra Garza, an iconic jurist who served on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Southern District of Texas, born in Brownsville, Texas, to emigrants from Mexico. President John F. Kennedy nominated Reynaldo Garza to the United States District Court, Southern District of Texas, in March 1961. Upon confirmation, he became the nation's first Mexican-American federal district judge and later served as chief judge of the court from 1974 until 1979. Beyond its educational and networking value, the conference is a key driver of JTB’s commitment to ensuring that students have access to the mentorship, resources, and experiences necessary to navigate their path to law school and beyond.

Your support makes a lasting impact.

On Sunday, September 27, our committee will bring approximately 150–200 Rice students, faculty, staff, and community partners together for an afternoon of music, food, celebration, and meaningful connection. We are reaching out to a select group of Houston leaders and organizations whose work helps strengthen our Rice community, and we hope you will be among those our community has the opportunity to meet.

This year's theme, “Florecemos Con Comunidad: We Bloom with Community,” is rooted in a simple idea: we are stronger when we know one another, support one another, and create opportunities for one another to flourish.

Our hope is that every attendee leaves this event having made a meaningful connection, perhaps to a future mentor, career opportunity, internship, volunteer experience, local business, or valuable community resource. Your presence could be the connection that opens a door and makes a lasting difference.
